BALTIMORE — For nearly 50 years, TurnAround has stood beside survivors of sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking, providing safety, advocacy, counseling, and hope. As 2026 comes to a close, our community finds itself amid renewed national conversations about sexual violence, particularly on college and university campuses. News stories have brought increased attention to reporting barriers, survivor experiences, and institutional accountability. While these conversations are important, they also underscore a truth that TurnAround has known for decades: When the headlines fade, survivors still need support.
The college student seeking counseling after an assault. The survivor navigating the aftermath of an abusive relationship. The parent rebuilding a life free from violence. The teenager learning what a healthy relationship should look like. Their journeys continue long after public attention has moved on.
Every day, TurnAround provides critical services that help survivors find safety, healing, and hope. This work extends beyond moments of national attention and reaches individuals and families across our community who need support, resources, and advocacy.
This year also marks an exciting chapter in our organization’s history. Through a refreshed brand and renewed vision, TurnAround is strengthening prevention efforts, expanding community partnerships, increasing awareness, and positioning itself to meet the evolving needs of survivors.
These commitments are reflected in our year-end campaign, Rising Together.
Rising Together recognizes that lasting change happens when communities move beyond awareness and take action. It is a reminder that survivors deserve support not only when their stories make headlines, but every day thereafter.
