The Monarch Program

TurnAround’s Monarch Program is a residential program licensed by the State of Maryland that provides therapeutic residential services to children and youth between the ages of 13-17 that have been victimized through human trafficking. Our residential services are provided in an undisclosed and safe 24/7 setting. The Monarch Program is staffed by a qualified team of professionals trained to provide the highest standard of trauma informed care to children and youth impacted by complex trauma and the effects of human trafficking.

Therapeutic Services Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Assessments and holistic care planning
  • Behavioral and mental health wellness support
  • Healthcare and nutrition provision
  • Life skills training
  • Educational and vocational support
  • Trauma Focused Therapy
  • Individual, group, and family therapy
  • Victimization specific psychoeducation
  • Social activities and community integration

Like the Monarch butterfly, children and youth in the program will receive support to become the best version of themselves they want to be. The Monarch Program is voluntary and the length of stay in the program can vary but is between 12 to 18 months and includes a 90-day discharge preparation and transition plan. The treatment team will work together with each child, youth and their support system, to identify a discharge date and assess progress made towards goals and objectives to ensure a successful transition and discharge. All programming, services, and activities offered will have the appropriate guardrails and support necessary to support the diverse and individual needs of each child or youth.

Discharge and Aftercare

The Monarch Program’s goal is to offer treatment that will successfully reduce the effects of human trafficking with the goal to prevent re-victimization. The program will evaluate outcomes related to participation in therapy services, life skills, and educational goals. The program will facilitate successful transitions to safe biological and foster care families and to independent living programs as appropriate. TurnAround will offer aftercare services for 6 months up to 1 year to promote continued success of each child or youth after they transition from the residential program.
