Today’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision from the Supreme Court impacts survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. As part of our mission to support survivors, TurnAround, Inc. seeks to educate and advocate around any issue that impacts a survivor’s experience. The Supreme Court decision will disproportionately burden survivors living in poverty and with marginalized identities who already suffer health inequities and additional vulnerability.
Pregnancy that results from abuse or sexual violence may exacerbate and prolong a survivor’s trauma experience. To reduce that trauma, TurnAround supports any survivor that seeks abortion care. Alternatively, pregnancy may be part of a survivor’s healing process. TurnAround seeks to provide access to care that pregnant survivors may need. Ultimately, the survivors we serve will have different reactions to this decision. TurnAround seeks to empower and support the autonomy of all survivors.
This is not about us. This is, and always will be, about those we serve.
We stand with each of those survivors in every decision they make about their own bodies and lives. As we have done for 40 years, TurnAround will continue to welcome all survivors, with an accessible open door, no matter what. We are here for all survivors, we believe all survivors, and we empower all survivors to make the best decisions for themselves.
TurnAround continues to fight for our clients in our offices, in our community, and in the larger systems that affect them. TurnAround’s staff is fiercely united in our dedication to the survivors we serve.
